Typography in Motion
An animated typography piece using audio from an interview from Steve Jobs, using motion, type, and shape to reinforce the message.
Role: Design • Motion Design
Concept Development
Once I found this audio I was immediately inspired to create a motion design project around it. After experimentation using paper and pencil, I began layout out rough shapes in Adobe Illistrator to further establish visual hierarchy and detail.
I wanted the type to be the main focus, with the artwork supporting the message without being distracting. I aimed to create a modern and minimal in the design, as to not distract from the core message.
Style-frames
Once artwork is created, it’s time to explore colour in Adobe Photoshop. This is one of my favourite stages, since this is where the vision really starts coming to life.
It’s incredibly important throughout the whole design process to remain flexible and redesign elements if necessary. Having style frames that I am happy with is extremely important to ensure the animation process is as smooth as possible.
Animation
I explored some new techniques to achieve the desired look for the motion. I played around with 3D shapes and cameras, and experimented with RGB Matte Compositing and time remapping to create the light bulb movement.
